5ft 10" Velo fish

Inspired by the Greenough spoon I saw , led to blending that with the fish outline.

Concave deck like the "FAQ"

One long concave nose to tail with a hull entry

Takayama Halo fins

I find it frustrating to have ideas and do nothing with them. This had led me to build many boards that are too small for me to surf , but have been great experiments and a joy to share with friends. And is this not what surfing is all about.

The First " Quadzilla"

Mapping out where I might be going with this project

Gaining appreciation for hand shaping 101

I did most of the work with the planer outside on the lawn. A lot easier to clean up the mess with the mower.

Plenty to think about when you are hand shaping.

9ft 6" x 24"

Set up these lights for night time fine tuning.

This is about 2008 and here is the finished board with one of Sam Yoon's big fishes as well.

Fliers to help keep the width further back in the board and then pull in for the tail.

Woody fish

This is a 5ft 10" x 22" experimental fish I built a couple of years ago now that has a plywood frame. Ply wood top and bottom skins ,with Cedar pin line , lanminated Paulownia rails and laminated cork tail.

It is nice to try different things and building this was quite a learning curve
The Alley doing it's thing

5ft 6" FAQ for Brad

The 5ft 6" x 22" "Fat Arse Quad" I built for Brad a couple of years ago.

Concave deck

The fins are a Dick Van design that are pretty flexi as well.

5ft 8" stringerless Mini Simmons

Johnny T, having a hand in shaping this ,the first Mini Simmons that I had designed.Great to nut these things out with a stoked mate.

Always good to see how she comes off the machine after you spend ages on the computer .
Stringerless styrene and epoxy

Hand made , double foiled bamboo fins.

John likes to add the old school feel to things around him. looks good.

Shanes Mini Simmons

I shaped this 5ft 4" x 22.5" Mini Simmons for a mate of mine Shane
and he then did the art on it.

All ready for the Fish Fry next weekend

6ft 5" finned / finless

Made to be finned or finless , will have to wait and see how she goes.

6ft 6" x 22" and 1.5" on the stringer

The nose is inspired by a Greenough spoon , hull entry and full length concave.

The tail is inspired by the Alaia and flaired rails like a body board

It all blends together to make an interesting fun board. The fins are 6" long and 2" tall 5" up from the tail.

Full concave deck and side cut rail line. Some ideas I have had an thought why not just build it and see how she come out.
