The Big Bob " Simmons"

Turned out pretty sweet really.

Bamboo fins by Paul from the Northern Fin Company

Glass by DMS Daniel MacDonald

Long concave right through blending in with the hullish nose.

S deck stands out in this shot.

I wanted to keep the twin fin original Simmons fin template , but thought I would experiment with having the last 1/3 cut away to lessen the base lenght and maybe free things up a little. Also moved the fins up 6 1/2" inches from the tail and sat them on top of the chine.I have to thank John Cherry for his inspiration and feedback. As well as Roger Hall and Dick Van Straalen for bouncing ideas off. But a big thanks goes to Bob Simmons for just thinking outside the square all those years ago.Imagine if he were still here now , where would surfing have gone ?

10ft triple stringer pintail

1/4" Cedar stringer with 1/8" Cedar stringers 3" out each side in a Burford blue blank

Full rolled bottom nose to tail.

Lots of rocker and plenty of tail lift.

Pretty sweet outline

Very flat on the deck at the nose and the tail with the centre of the board having a rolled deck.

This is a copy of a 9ft 8" board that Micheal has had for some years but has gotten a little tired.
It is an interesting board in that it has about 4" of nose rocker and 5 1/2" tail lift , so it ends up with a pot belly at the wide point with the fully rolled bottom.A 12" racked fin that Wiz has foiled will sit right on the tail or at least the tip will be in line with the pintail. It was a bit of a test shaping my first multi stringer board , but actually ended up being not too bad.
