Merry Christmas to all of you that I have built boards for and supported me in the past. I hope you are getting waves to share with family and friends over the break.

Have board will travel

This is a board I built for Peter Redmond and sent to New Zealand for him. He has since moved to the UK after getting married in Anitigua on the way there, as you do.The board is unglassed and finished in Lanolin.

"The board, oh my, the longboard you made me really is something special & I'm so pleased to be able to have & ride it.

In short we just had swell of the year in the UK & I got to take it out at Bournemouth Pier which is my local break with some decent swell.

The soft rails work really really good & it slides in such a nice variable progressive way. With the fin pushed forward turns fantastically too!"

Here's a vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRIx7lR5svI of the swell..

Wooden 6ft 2" single fin for London based cinematographer , Haris Zambarloukos

 6ft 2" x 21" x 2 3/8" @ 35lt. Cut from a US Blanks 2lb EPS blank with 1/8" Paulownia stringer

Haris liked the outline of this "Stubby" shape but wanted a little more going on, on the bottom, so we added a modified Hydro V bottom to it. Single concave to double to V out the tail and chines down each side to mix it up. It should be a little flyer in the breaks of Cornwall.
The blank is cut 9mm thinner as it will have a 5mm deck and 4mm bottom skin of Paulownia added.
It will be finished, unglassed in Lanolin.
Complete outline prior to me scribing the rails and cutting them off to add the wood to the blank.
Rails off and ready to add first rail bands
 5mm rail bands all round
All trimmed up ready to add skins
5mm deack skin and 4mm bottom skin in the bag for 2 hours
Solid as a rock, ready to take off any over hanging skins all round and then to add the actual 5mm rail bands.

7ft 2" x 23" x 2 1/2" @ 55 lt for Bevan Wong

2lb EPS US Blanks cuts and finishes up pretty tidy.

We are going with a carbon tape strip down the top and bottom stringer line, nose to tail to stiffen things up. Carbon mesh over the tail area. 4oz cloth with Inegra under 6oz on the deck and 6oz bottom. Bevan is 6ft 3" and 100kg.
"That is sweet, what a fantastic Christmas present. Great job, the plan shape and open tail look very nice. I don't know about you, I buy lots of stuff consumer goods, cars, houses, properties, the latter because there is economic value in it. New surfboard stoke is difficult to beat in terms of excitement and value! "
Now that is a happy customer, thanks Bevan ... Merry Christmas.
First day, fin boxes , Carbon strip 40mm wide and 6 oz.all over.
Next, carbon strip  40mm wide , Carbon Vector net 1inch diamond patch , Quad axial 4oz cloth with Innegra and 6oz all over.

9 foot performance longboard for Dave Ogle

A simple way to scribe the rails and cut them off

End grain Paulownia makes it easy to bend around a tight tail and steam helps get it round the nose.
3mm rail band on not a lot of foam.

End grain timber makes it easy to wrap around a tight tail.
Very sharp and a great weight to slice along those rail bands.
6mm wrapped round the outside and trimmed down.
Rocker bed set up ,blank on top and 5mm skin cut and ready.
I normally bag the top and bottom skins on together but this board has a lot of nose to tail rocker and deck roll which means the 5mm has a lot of bending and pressure on it to pull down. So I steamed along the rails and in the middle which softend it up lots.
So as you can see it pulled it down and we now have one very soild unit
4mm bottom skin on
 Nice concave and rail chine

Looking good. All ready for Dave to pick up and laminate the rails on over Christmas. He will finish it with Lanolin.
As you can see he did a pretty nice job
