The 5ft Simmons and the 6ft 6" fish for Brian and Josh

I shaped both these boards for Brian Punch and his son Josh. Brian glassed them both. Josh is taking this the 5 footer and the 5ft 4" I shaped him to Bali next month. He says the 5 footer flies with the Rasta Keels.

5ft 8" Shovel Head

I built this one to be a at the big end of the scale so that a wider range of guys could try out the Simmons concept. Also went with the Rasta Keels to try some different fins and placement.

5ft 8" Shovel Head Simmons

5ft 8" x 23" x 2 1/2"

I tapered the rails to keep them fine and still keep the thickness in the blank.

Square nose with a hull entry to a flat under the front foot and a concave out through the tail.

Big blunt nose with an S deck

Gone to a good home

One of my early hollow wooden boards has gone to a good home. Kevin Hill from Bagara near Bundaberg .

The 5 foot Shovel Head Simmons

5ft x 22 1/2"

Beveled rails help to hide the thickness and gives a nice fine rail for bite.

Nice soft concave out through the tail.

Hullish entry

Nice flowing foil over a very short length

Should be a little rocket. I shaped this for Brian Punch to glass himself for his son who also has a 5ft 4" Mini Simmons I shaped for him.

Nalu magazine.

It was a great honour to have the guys from Nalu magazine come by home about 6 weeks ago to interview me and shoot our house. They were the nicest people and a big thanks to Tadashi for recommending me. Unfortunately we had onshore winds for the week and getting some decent water shots was a mission. Oh well they weren't here to showcase my surfing.
