6ft 3" Hydro Simmons for Bevan

The stringerless EPS blank being cut on the AKU machiine
First cut down the bottom looks severe but that's just the deep full length concave
All cut and ready to come off the machine. The laser can clearly been seen that helps line things up.
The bottom of the cut corrugations is the actual board design
So lots of delicate fine tuning to get the design tidied up.
All smoothed out and flowing as planned

Double diamond tail a little easier to do than one with a stringer as well.
The lower lights show up the contours that makes this all work.

The big board

Dave swung by to pick up his wooden board to take to get glassed on the Sunshine Coast. 7ft 6" x 26" at 80 litres of volume. Dave sees it as his longboard. He is 6ft 7" and 130 kg so a big guy. I am holding a 5ft 6" x 19" Hydro Simmons

Some new projects

This is a cross section of Daves board , 5mm deck and 4mm bottom skins and rail laminates. this is from cutting out the butt crack in the tail
Lots of hand planing once the rails are on. The weight is a great way of keeping things in place as you lean into it.
This plane is set pretty well open to take off lots of wood as you can see.
Now you can see the foil of the board prior to heading to the shaping bay and using the lights to help shape the rails.
I bagged these two as well today a 5ft 6" x 22" Hydro Simmons and a 5ft 10" fish with the Hydro Simmons bottom contours.

Big Dave Jackson's board

It is hard to tell in this shot how big the blank is except for the pencil on the deck. Dave is a big guy at 6ft 7" and 130kg , so his board is 7ft 6" x 25" and 80 litres. It is just scaled up from other boards I have made in this design.
Now you get an idea of the scale of the board as I clean up the rail ready to glue the first rail bands on.
Dave dropped by last night to check the board out and see how it was progressing. He is building a van up to travel around Australia later this year and wanted an alround board to travel with that had to fit in the van at max 7ft 6" , so this is it.
